During fiscal year 2018-2019, we worked to articulate the interests of our businesses with the agenda of the communities of which we are part to generate economic, social and environmental value. We detail below some of the activities carried out.
9th EDITION OF "LA FERIA DE COMPAÑÍAS" IN ABASTO SHOPPING
4th and 5th year students of 30 public and private secondary schools had the opportunity to exhibit and sell to the public of Abasto Shopping the products of the micro- they created under the program "The Company", of the Junior Achievement Foundation (www.junior.org.ar).
CINEMA IN ALTO AVELLANEDA
We invited 500 children living in homes dependent on the Ministry of Social Development of the Province of Buenos Aires to spend a different morning in Alto Avellaneda. The children attended a movie show and then had lunch in the food court of the mall.
CHILDREN\'S VILLAGES IN DOT
On Father\'s Day, under the slogan "Play as a family", an activity was carried out at Dot Baires Shopping with the NGO Children\'s Villages (www.aldeasinfantiles.org.ar). More than 300 families participated.
"PALERMO CREATIVO" IN ALTO PALERMO
To celebrate Children\'s Day, the group of artists "Palermo Creativo" was present in Alto Palermo conducting music workshops, telling stories and painting. The boys who participated in the meeting took home a book to encourage the habit of reading.
"LINTERNA MÁGICA" EN DISTRITO ARCOS
More than 600 people enjoyed silent film performances with live music at the "Distrito Arcos" amphitheater, performed by the civil association "Linterna Mágica". The films screened were "The Circus", one of the most recognized works of Charles Chaplin, and "The Seven Occasions" by Buster Keaton. Before starting, a play was performed to explain the concepts related to cinema and these films.
"PLIC PLOC" IN DOT
The play “Ecology begins at home” was presented by the group of artists "Plic Ploc" in Dot Baires Shopping. The topics addressed were environmental care, waste separation and recycling. After the show, recycling workshops of different types of materials were offered.
ASSISTANCE DOGS TRAINING
For more than 7 years we have been accompanying the mission of Bocalán Argentina (www.bocalanargentina.org) to prepare assistance dogs for people with disabilities. Monthly training of dogs is carried out in the facilities of the shopping malls to work the slogans of social obedience. Assistance dogs are trained as technical assistance to improve the autonomy of people with disabilities who can benefit from the work of these animals.
GIRLS BY BIKE
Alto Palermo and the City of Buenos Aires Government invited the 7th edition of “Girls by Bike”, held on March 11 for free, which covered 10 kilometers.
Organized within the framework of Women\'s Month, this bicycle ride is carried out in support of the "Heart and Woman" program of the Argentine Cardiology Foundation (www.fundacioncardiologica.org/corazon-y-mujer) to raise awareness about the benefits of physical activity to have a healthy lifestyle and prevent the development of cardiovascular diseases. In addition, it aims to promote the use of the bicycle as a means of ecological, economic and healthy transport.
During the year, we opened the doors of our shopping malls so that Greenpeace, Engineering Without Borders, Children\'s Villages, "Cimientos", Patagonian Crusade, "Haciendo Camino", "Mensajeros de la Paz" and "Manos en Acción" groups can carry out fundraising campaigns. NGOs have the permission to invite clients to know the work that each one does and support them, in case they are interested in their cause.
INTERNATIONAL CHILDHOOD CANCER DAY
Alto Palermo and the Natalí Dafne Flexer Foundation (www.fundacionflexer.org) carried out the 8th edition of the “Ponete la Camiseta” campaign. More than 3,000 people approached the mall wearing a white garment as a symbol of support for the boys. The mall donated $ 25,000 and 750 kits of school supplies for children and adolescents who participate in the NGO programs.
In addition, Alto Rosario joined the awareness-raising action of the Argentina Onco Hematology Pediatric Foundation (www.faohp.org.ar), displaying a golden ribbon at the entrance doors of the shopping and stained glass windows of the premises.
EVERY MINUTE ACCOUNT
To raise awareness about the importance of early detection of breast cancer, Alto Palermo organized an exhibition of mannequins intervened by artists and designers, who were part of an auction to raise funds for FUCA - Fundación para la Investigación y Prevención del Cáncer (www.fuca.org.ar). In turn, the artist Tito Khabie made an intervention of a mannequin live in the shopping, inviting the public to be part of that creative process. Alto Palermo made a donation for each person who joined the activity.
In Alcorta Shopping, together with the NGO Sostén (www.sosten.org.ar), an installation covered by pink scarves, representing the fight against breast cancer. Those who took a photo there and shared it on their social networks with the hashtag #CadaMinutoCuenta received a handkerchief as a gift.
For seven years we have been working with the NGO "Sumando" (www.sumando.org.ar) in the School of Middle Education Nº 5 D.E. 15 "Monseñor Enrique Angelelli" implementing the project "Demos", Building a Responsible Citizenship." It aims to promote greater citizen participation in decision-making at local, regional and national levels, as well as to promote the exercise of social responsibility. During the year the students work in rap-debate workshops and have a visit to Dot Baires Shopping in which they watch a movie and make a debate on the subject addressed, finishing the trip with a lunch at the mall.
In addition, the NGO trains teachers on community projects led by young people to provide them with more tools.
To celebrate International Happiness Day, we decided to “Give happiness” to 14 NGOs from all over the country collaborating with their objectives. The social organizations had presence and communication in each of the IRSA CP shopping malls. The company\'s total donation exceeded $ 2,000,000.
PALLETS OF LIFE
From the hand of the NGO "Pura Vida" (www.proyectopuravida.org.ar) we celebrate Children\'s Day in Alto Avellaneda with a workshop in which the visitors of the shopping mall received a heart-shaped support to be decorated with recycled paints and materials (napkins, individual tray tablecloths, among others). Together with the artist Gaby Pérez, a pallet intervened with the work done during the workshop, creating a work of art that was later auctioned by Pura Vida to equip the intensive neonatology therapy of the General Hospital Belgrano.
LA HORA DEL PLANETA
For the 9th consecutive year, we participated in “La Hora del Planeta” (International Earth Hour, WWF) initiative carried out in Argentina by Fundación Vida Silvestre (www.vidasilvestre.org.ar), turning off the lights on the facades of our shopping malls and office buildings. It is the largest global awareness campaign that invites individuals, governments and institutions to turn off the lights for an hour to demonstrate their commitment to climate change.
WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY
To celebrate World Environment Day, we invite the public to participate in the “Waste Soup” in Abasto Shopping, Alto Palermo, Alto Avellaneda, Dot Baires Shopping and central offices, with the aim of reinforcing the habit of properly separating waste . The activity was developed with a giant letter soup. Those who participated were challenged to discover words that represent different residues and mark them with the corresponding colors, distinguishing between “wet” in black and “recyclable” in green.
We celebrate Tree Day in Distrito Arcos together with the Civil Association "Un Árbol para mi Vereda" (www.unarbolparamivereda.org). The public participated in the experience of the "Office to save the World" through a collective plantation and the tasting of products made with fruits of native trees. Those who approached the proposal took a plantation kit as a gift to continue the activity in their homes.
In recent months, Abasto Shopping, Alto Avellaneda, Dot Baires Shopping and Alto Palermo installed “Sustainable Stations” located in the food courts, where waste is separated from the trays for the subsequent recycling of plastic and cardboard materials. In this framework, throughout the year, Dot Baires Shopping worked together with the NGO Manos Verdes (www.manos-verdes.org) during weekends and holidays, bringing awareness activities on caring for the environment through games and shows for the whole family.
IRSA CP launched a Pilot Plan for the Collection of Organic Residues promoted by the City of Buenos Aires Government, in order to collect and valorize the organic waste generated by the gastronomic stores in Alto Palermo, Arcos District and Alcorta Shopping. The shopping pioneer was Alto Rosario that has been triple-separating since the end of 2018. The benefits of this plan are: reduction of the amount of waste that is disposed in the landfill, reduction of methane emissions, reduction of costs associated with the wet waste management and obtaining organic compost for parking of public spaces.
MOVABLE GREEN POINTS
In partnership with the City of Buenos Aires Government, the presence of Mobile Green Points was agreed in Alto Palermo, Alcorta Shopping, Abasto, Arcos District and Dot Baires Shopping, where items for recycling are received.
TOYS FACTORY AND TOOL FACTORY TOGETHER WIT "FUNDACIÓN SÍ"
We hold corporate volunteering days with the help of "Fundación Sí" (www.fundacionsi.org.ar), where we collaborate in the preparation of gifts and school supplies. For the beginning of classes, we prepare kits with backpacks, purses and notebooks and send them to schools located in the fields of Cresud in Salta. At the end of the year, we put together toys that are delivered at Christmas and Three Wise Men to children in community centers and dining rooms.
HÁBITAT PARA LA HUMANIDAD ARGENTINA
In partnership with the civil association "Hábitat para la Humanidad Argentina" (www.hpha.org.ar) we begin the construction of the 4th house built with contributions from the company. Throughout the year, about 100 IRSA volunteers work together with the beneficiary family in the different stages of the work.
LUCAS ALBARRACÍN SCHOOL
Dot Baires Shopping employees participated in a volunteer day in which they painted murals in the courtyard of the School No. 13 Dr. Ignacio Lucas Albarracín, an institution located in Saavedra, a few blocks from the shopping center. Together with an artist, workshops were held with the students to define the theme and the phrases that were drawn.
"PUERTA DEL CIELO" HOME
We did a volunteer day at the Puerta del Cielo Home to improve the facilities. Soleil Premium Outlet volunteers helped paint the beds of the 19 boys living in the home, put together new boards and painted the walls of the courtyards.
Volunteers from the company shared part-time at the University of San Martín with the NGO “Un Árbol para mi Vereda” (www.unarbolparamivereda.org), where they planted trees and learned about caring for the environment.
